Needle felted Giraffe by thai-binturong Needle felted Giraffe by thai-binturong
Here is a needle felted giraffe! The baby is made of fine and semifine (hooves) wool of champagne, brick-red and brown colour, over light wire armature. Eyes are made of Super Sculpey polymer clay with a touch of acrylic paint and polish.
He's 25 cm / 9.8 inch tall.

Other pics:

He is available here [link] and here [link]

so basicaly you poke the wool around, because it could break the needle right?

It's just that if you have the wire inside you should poke a bit more carefully - so if you suddenly hit the wire the needle doesn't break. But actually the wire is relatively thin and the wool layer is thick - so such things doesn't occur often)

Для меня валяние всегда было чем-то сродни "неведомому колдунству" - никогда не понимала, как можно с помощью иглы и маленького пушистого комочка творить такие замечательные вещи))

how do you needle felt? is that the right way of saying it? :P Do you take sheets of felt and pull it apart? very curious, looks great!

Hehe =) Dry felting is sticking special needles (with notches) into pieces of wool. It makes the wool solid and gives it the shape you need) You may find lots of great felted pieces of different authors here on DA!)
